This week the parish draw team visited the home of parishioners Brian and Evelyn Grant from Lower Ballinderry, who selected the winning numbers for the Autumn Draw. The numbers were drawn by Brian in his Rolls Royce formerly owned by the English actress and singer Diana Dors who died on 4 May 1984 at the age of 52. Brian came across the Rolls Royce at an auction and has kept it in pristine condition, occasionally hiring it out.
The winners of the 2024 Autumn Draw were £1,000 Deirdre Mulholland (Crumlin), £500 Fidelma Armstrong (Crumlin), £100 Mary Patton (Glenavy) and £50 Fidelma Armstrong (Crumlin). Congratulations to our winners!
For those of a younger generation Diana Dors came to public notice as a blonde bombshell, much in the style of Americans Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield. Diana gave well-regarded film performances and appeared in episodes of Z Cars, Dixon of Dock Green, Just William, The Sweeney, Hammer House of Horror, Shoestring and many others. She converted to Catholicism in early 1973.
