Conversations About Our Future Church

The Parish Pastoral Council are seeking input from Parishioners to help develop our Parish Pastoral Plan. Input forms have been distributed and are available in Mater Dei and St. Joseph’s churches. Please return input forms by 3 December 2023 to boxes in the churches or you can contact the Parish Office by email at glenavy@downandconnor.org. Drop-in sessions are planned for 22 November 7-9pm at Mater Dei and 23 November 7-9pm at St. Joseph’s. Members of the Parish Pastoral Council will also be available after Masses on weekends of 25/26 November.

The Parish Council would appreciate your views for the Development of a Parish Pastoral Plan 2024-2026.

It is important that we engage with parishioners, as we enter an era of change in the church which we have heard about over several weeks through the Diocesan Pathways to the Future Initiative. The letter from Bishop Donal McKeown at Pentecost set out the reality of our changing church and what the future holds in terms of numbers of priests and the role of laity, and the questions that poses for us to consider what this may mean in practice and what we all can contribute.

The Parish Pastoral Council cannot respond, or effect change in isolation. To that end we are developing a Parish Pastoral Plan, and we need the views of parishioners to inform the plan. We invite you all to provide your thoughts and comments.

Thank you on behalf of the Parish Pastoral Council.
